Final chance to visit bath house

Part of an extensive Roman settlement unearthed in Northamptonshire has opened to visitors for the final time.

An open day is being held at Whitehall Villa in Nether Heyford, the site of extensive archaeological digs for the past nine years.

Organisers said it would be the last chance to view the villa's "impressive" bath house, which dates from 3 AD.

The remains of the building need to be reburied as protection from the weather, they added.

Brooches, rings, fragments of bowls and a 4th Century conical beaker engraved with the figure of a gladiator have all been found within the bath house.
