Trapped woman rescued from blaze

Firefighters have rescued a woman and her dog trapped as a blaze tore through a house in Northamptonshire.

The fire Service was called to Porlock Close, in Duston, near Northampton, late on Tuesday night.

A fire service spokeswoman said the woman was rescued from the top floor of a terraced house and taken to hospital.

She said firefighters also rescued a dog from the blaze, which she said is believed to have been started by cooking left unattended.
