Man who hurt his baby sentenced

A 46-year-old man who admitted seriously injuring his baby daughter has been given a 12-month sentence suspended for two years.

Stephen Craine earlier admitted one count of grievous bodily harm against four-week-old Isabelle, who was seriously injured in May last year.

Craine, of Chatsworth Drive, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, also received a two-year supervision order.

At Northampton Crown Court he was also ordered to pay up to £5,000 in costs.

Craine previously denied the charge, as well as two other counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, and cruelty to a person under-16.

At a hearing in November he pleaded guilty to one charge of grievous bodily harm, which was accepted by the prosecution.
