TV appeal over sex attack on girl

E-fit of the Wellingborough attacker

A sex attack on a 13-year-old girl in a Northamptonshire town has featured on BBC's Crimewatch programme.

The girl was attacked at about 1800 GMT on 28 August as she was using play equipment at John Lea Park, Doddington Road, Wellingborough.

In a bid to identify the attacker, officers have released an e-fit of a suspect and the case will feature on the Crimewatch programme.

Police believe the man may be from outside the area.

Det Con Alan Fisermanis said: "We are now able to reveal the e-fit of the man we believe was responsible for this horrible incident.

"This was an unusual, one-off incident and that, coupled with the lack of witnesses, leads us to believe he may not be a Wellingborough man so we are widening our appeal.

"After seeking permission from the victim's family we are now looking to broaden our search for this man outside the Wellingborough area."

The man is described as white, aged in his mid-20s to mid-40s, with short spiky black hair and a greying goatee beard.

He was slim, with yellowing teeth and described as being short for a man.

He wore a long-sleeved light blue top and black trousers and was carrying a black folder.
