Service to mark hunt boy's death

Family and friends have marked the death of a teenager found shot dead in a Northamptonshire hunt's kennels.

Jack Burgess, 16, of Longcroft Lane, Paulerspury, Northamptonshire, died of a shotgun wound to the head at the Grafton Hunt's kennels last month.

Flowers lined the path to St James the Great Church in Paulerspury where mourners gathered for a service of thanksgiving for his life.

Police said they were not treating the teenager's death as suspicious.

'Extraordinary gift'

A display was set up inside the church showing photographs of Jack with white balloons as a symbol of hope.

Colin Richmond-Watson, joint master of the Grafton Hunt, described Jack as having an "extraordinary gift" with animals.

He told the congregation: "That gift has been seen by many people associated with the hunt."

He said Jack had shown "maturity and confidence well beyond his years" in the way he handled himself and animals at the kennels, including his horse Navigator.
