Football fans attacked by youths

Three football fans were injured when they were attacked by youths after a game in Northampton.

The three men were set upon on Friday night as they made their way home along Walter Tull Way in Sixfields, after the Cobblers beat Hartlepool 1-0.

All three were treated for injuries at Northampton General Hospital.

Northamptonshire police are appealing for witnesses and information. They said the attackers were youths who had not been to the match.

Det Insp Carl Jayes said: "It is a shame local youths felt the need to create disorder that seriously impinged on the lives of innocent spectators."
