Man arrested over arson at house

A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after an attack on a house in Northamptonshire.

Four men were in a house on Fulmar Lane in the Hemmingwell estate area of Wellingborough, when the blaze broke out in the early hours of the morning.

The house was extensively damaged but the men escaped unhurt, a Northamptonshire police spokesman said.

The force has announced it is cracking down on arson attacks in Wellingborough

with more high profile police patrols.

Sgt Nick Lyall said: "We are seeing too many bin fires and arson incidents across the Wellingborough area.

"But I would like to reassure residents that we are doing everything we can to clamp down on people who light these very dangerous fires."
