Cyclist hurt in airgun incident

A 22-year-old man was hit in the body with an air pellet as he was cycling in a Northamptonshire town.

The victim was travelling along Elizabeth Street, close to the Corby Candle pub, in Corby, when an airgun was fired at him on Tuesday night.

He swerved into the road but managed to avoid a collision, police said.

Two 17-year-old youths from Corby have been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm/wounding in connection with the incident, a police spokesman said.
