Protest march over community cuts

The Community and Youth Workers' Union rally About 150 people have attended a march in Northampton against proposed cuts to youth services in the county.

The event was organised by The Community and Youth Workers' Union.

Northamptonshire County Council proposals include contracting out all youth service provision and cutting some services.

The William Knibb centre in Kettering and Grendon Hall near Wellingborough are both threatened with closure under the proposals.

Last Saturday members of a brass band staged a protest against the proposed closure of Grendon Hall.

Grendon Hall hosts summer schools and training programmes offering courses including archery, abseiling, climbing and canoeing

The cabinet on the county council will be putting its final budget together on Monday.
