Police hunt for golf club thieves

Police are hunting thieves who stole golfing equipment worth thousands of pounds from four clubs in North Yorkshire.

Golf clubs, bags and clothing were among the items taken from locker rooms at the Bedale, Harrogate, Knaresborough and Thirsk and Northallerton clubs.

North Yorkshire Police said the equipment had been stolen between Tuesday and Saturday.

The force appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Det Con Gary Smith-Owen of Northallerton CID said: "Due to the nature and timing of the thefts at the four golf clubs, it is very likely that they have been carried out by the same offenders.

"I need to know about any suspicious activity in and around the golf clubs, such as vehicles parked up near the courses at odd times of the day, as well as unknown people hanging around the club houses.

"The more information that comes in, even the most seemingly innocuous detail, will help us to catch the offenders and bring them to justice as quickly as possible."
