Man seriously injured in attack

A 56-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his face when he was attacked in Harrogate in the early hours of Sunday.

The man was attacked as he walked past the post office near King Edward's Drive in the Bilton area of the town.

North Yorkshire Police said the man, who lives in Malton, was visiting family when he was assaulted.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment and is in a stable condition.
