Youth charged over festival rape

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the rape of a 17-year-old girl at a music festival in Scarborough.

The girl was attacked at the Beached Festival at Scarborough's South Bay on the evening of 16 August.

She was approached when she went to a temporary block of toilets on the beach close to The Spa.

Her alleged attacker, who comes from Whitby, is due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 16 December, North Yorkshire Police said.
