Man held after residential blaze

A 62-year-old man is being questioned by police after a fire broke out at a block of flats in North Yorkshire.

Firefighters rescued four people from the second floor of the four-storey building at Trafalgar Square in Scarborough on Wednesday night.

They were taken to hospital suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.

A North Yorkshire fire service spokesman said much of the building was damaged. Five people were provided with emergency accommodation.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
