Man killed in fire engine crash

A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a fire engine on the A170 in North Yorkshire.

Police said the accident happened near the village of Wilton, between Scarborough and Pickering, on Saturday.

The motorcyclist, who has not been named, was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four people who were in the fire engine were not injured. The engine was not responding to an emergency call at the time of the crash.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone who saw either vehicle just before the incident to come forward.
