Resort roads shut after accident

Roads leading to the summit of Oliver's Mount in Scarborough have been closed after a lorry struck a bridge which then collapsed.

Diversions in the town were already in place as roadworks to improve Queen Margaret's Road were taking place.

But the accident has now affected Weaponness Lane, Deepdale Avenue and Jackson's Lane in the area.

North Yorkshire Police said lifting gear on the lorry struck a footbridge which then collapsed.
