Armed man steals cash from shop

A man armed with a gun fled with cash from a North Yorkshire bookmakers after threatening staff.

Armed police scoured the roads around the Coral bookmakers' shop on Beckfield Lane in York at lunchtime.

But the raider had fled in the direction of Ostman Road and Viking Road after the incident.

The robber was described as white, skinny and about 5ft 8in tall. He was wearing a grey hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.
