Driver hunted after hit-and-run

Bike Police investigating a hit-and-run incident in which a cyclist was killed say they want to trace the driver of a white Vauxhall Astra van.

The cyclist, who has not yet been identified, was riding on the A658 near Pool in Wharfedale on a Peugeot bike when the accident happened on Sunday.

He is described as about 50 years old, 6ft tall, medium build with short grey hair and tattoos on his arms.

The van was seen near the scene at the time of the crash.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the driver could have useful information about the crash.

The spokesman also appealed for any other motorists who stopped at the scene to offer help to contact police.
