Three dead in two-car accident

Three people died and another person was seriously injured in a crash involving two cars on a main road.

A man and a woman died in a Ford Focus which was in collision with a BMW on the A59 Harrogate to Skipton road in North Yorkshire on Saturday.

A police spokesman said the male driver of the BMW died later from his injuries and a woman passenger was badly hurt.

He said the collision happened at about 1100 BST at Beamsley Hill, about eight miles east of Skipton.

The road was closed for some time.

The spokesman said: "Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the vehicles driving prior to the collision at or near to Beamsley Hill."
