Fatal fall firm awaiting sentence

A company will be sentenced at crown court after a man plunged 70ft (21.34m) to his death while working at a power station in North Yorkshire.

Managers admit failing to maintain adequate safety at Eggborough Power Station and are being prosecuted under the Health and Safety Act.

Andrew Bason, 42, from Doncaster, died when the staircase on which he was working collapsed in July 2003.

On Tuesday, Selby magistrates referred the case to York Crown Court .
