First image of new college campus

The first artist's impressions of a £173m scheme to redevelop the student campus at City College in Norwich have been unveiled.

The proposals will see the present buildings demolished to make way for the new college.

One building will house the college's creative arts, catering, hospitality, hair, beauty and leisure courses and the other will be used for IT courses.

The plan is to provide places for up to 20,000 students.

The city council's planning committee recently voted in favour of the outline plans.

College principal Dick Palmer said: "We are going to create a state-of-the-art environment in which our students will be inspired and motivated."

He said the buildings needed to be of "the highest quality to meet the needs of our students, the public who will be able to use many of the facilities and businesses".
