Prison officer's e-mail inquiry

Prison officials have said an inquiry is under way into allegations that a senior officer at a jail sent an inappropriate e-mail.

The officer, who works at HMP Norwich in Norfolk, has been suspended while the allegations are investigated, a Home Office spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said the "inappropriate e-mail" had been sent to someone outside the prison.

The incident happened two weeks ago, but has just been made public.
