£3.1m scheme for memorial gardens

Norwich memorial garden design A £3.1m scheme to renovate a memorial garden dedicated to those who have fallen in war has been revealed.

Norwich City Council has been planning the redevelopment for several months and are to recommend a scheme drawn up by an independent architect.

Plans have been published showing how the gardens and surrounding area above Norwich market might look.

Anna Graves, the city's development director, said the scheme will make the gardens look entirely different.

"The aim is to create an area for civic events and to remember those who have fallen in conflict," she said.

"In addition we are going to improve access and remove steps and steep ramps into the garden."
