Residents are being asked for their views on plans to create energy through a chicken power station in their area.
Banham Poultry wants to build a £10m renewable energy station near its processing centre in Station Road, Attleborough, Norfolk.
It would heat chicken waste products - such as feathers and limbs - to produce gas and generate electricity.
But mayor Barbara Waters said a meeting with residents had shown there was considerable unease about the scheme.
She told BBC Radio Norfolk that a number of people had raised concerns about the project's potential impact.
The mayor said councillors would meet next week to discuss the matter and prepare a way of giving the public its say on the issue.
Banham Power, the food company's energy division, said the new plant will be capable of generating enough electricity to supply households across the Attleborough area.
The plant would be about 2km outside the town and linked by an existing pipeline to Banham Poultry's processing plant.
