Police are appealing for information about a crash which killed four people near a village on Merseyside.

John Aston, Michaela Favager, Edward Smith, all aged 19, and Gillian Fowle, 43, died at the scene of the crash on Chester High Road in Neston.

The Vauxhall Tigra they were travelling in crashed into a tree in the early hours of Saturday.

Cheshire Police said they wanted to speak to drivers who saw the car before the crash or who drove past the scene.

The accident happened near a sign warning motorists there had been 59 collisions at the spot in the past three years.

The A540 was closed between The Runnell and Boathouse Lane for about 12 hours.
