Ten charged with murdering cadet

Joseph Lappin

Ten people have been charged with the murder of a teenage Army cadet who was stabbed to death in Liverpool.

Joseph Lappin, 16, was stabbed in the heart after being chased near the Shrewsbury House Youth Club in Everton in October 2008.

Joseph's friend, Callum Naden, 17, was also stabbed but survived the attack.

Six men and four teenagers - two aged 16 and two aged 17 - have been charged with murder and grievous bodily harm, Merseyside police said.

Joseph, who was a member of the Liverpool Scottish Regiment, had been enjoying his first night at the youth club with friends when they were attacked.

An 18-year-old man, a 20-year-old, three 21-year-olds and a 22-year-old, all from Vauxhall, are due before Liverpool magistrates on Thursday.
