Hunt after father and son stabbed

Graham McKenna

Detectives have identified a man they are hunting over a double stabbing on Merseyside in which a man was killed and his son was seriously injured.

Gary Finlay, 46, has been missing since the attack on Graham McKenna, 45, and his 14-year-old son in Claughton, Wirral, on Saturday afternoon.

The boy remains in a serious condition after the attack, which police described as "domestic and targeted".

Mr Finlay, from Prenton, is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Detectives believe that Mr McKenna and his son were walking towards a bus stop on Upton Road when they were attacked.

Knife wounds

Both were found with stab wounds on nearby Speedwell Road by officers called to reports of a fight.

Merseyside Police said the pair were stabbed in the abdomen with a knife.

It is believed their attacker then drove towards Bidston Hill in a Honda car. The vehicle has since been recovered.

Gary Finlay

The scene was cordoned off on Saturday afternoon and police maintained a heavy presence in the area, conducting house-to-house inquiries.

On Sunday, detectives revealed the man they were looking for in connection with the attack was Mr Finlay.

A spokeswoman said: "Merseyside Police must stress that we firmly believe that Gary Finlay may pose a risk to members of the public and I would urge any member of the public who has seen him to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 immediately."

Mr Finlay is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, stocky and with blue eyes. He is balding and was last seen wearing a black and dark grey padded jacket.
