Motorist dies after car hits post

A 38-year-old motorist has died after the car he was driving struck a lamppost in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police said the man was driving his red Vauxhall Corsa along Grange Lane on Tuesday night when the accident happened.

He was taken to Royal Liverpool Hospital but later died from his injuries.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which happened near the Grange Manor pub at 2300 GMT.
