Minibus driver collapses at wheel

A man has died after collapsing at the wheel of a minibus in Wirral.

The man was driving the bus on the M53 Chester-bound carriageway near junction 3 at Woodchurch when the incident happened at about 1640 GMT.

Merseyside Police said the man, who was from Wallasey, had pulled over at the side of the road before collapsing.

There were no passengers on board and no-one else was hurt. The carriageway was closed between junctions 2 and 3 but has since re-opened.

Police said an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
