Police have uncovered what they say is one of Merseyside's biggest cannabis farms after finding drugs in suitcases.
Two men were seen acting suspiciously outside a house in Ashfield, Wavertree, before one of them ran off.
A woman came out of the house with a suitcase in which officers found 20kg of cannabis. A second was then found with the same amount of the drug.
A total of 2,000 cannabis plants were in the house, police said. A man, 34, and a woman, 45, have been arrested.
Insp Andy Wignall, of Merseyside police, said: "The officers' outstanding work led to the closure of what must have been one of Merseyside's biggest cannabis farms.
"I would urge anyone with any information about this cannabis farm and the man who escaped the scene to contact us."
