Boy badly injured in hit-and-run

A 15-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Liverpool.

The teenager was hit by a white and blue Ford Transit van on Vauxhall Road, near its junction with Tithebarn Street, on Tuesday evening.

The van failed to stop at the scene and was seen turning right into Tithebarn Street and driving off.

The teenager suffered chest injuries and is said to be in a serious condition in hospital.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened just before 1700 BST, to contact them.
