A man has been airlifted to hospital after he was hit by a car on the M56 in Greater Manchester.
The motorway was closed both ways between junctions six at Manchester Airport and seven at Altrincham, after the car hit a pedestrian on Thursday.
The North West Air Ambulance landed on the carriageway and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said both carriageways had reopened by about 1400 BST.
Motorists had been advised to avoid the area but traffic has now cleared.
Investigations into the incident, which happened at about 1130 BST, are continuing.
