Police podcasts for Silverstone

Northamptonshire Police's Silverstone website

Officers policing next month's British Grand Prix at Silverstone are introducing internet podcasts to provide up-to-date information.

Event commander Supt John Jones, of Northamptonshire Police, will be updating those online about all aspects of the policing of the Grand Prix.

This will include traffic plans, security, crime prevention and information for the local community.

It will give racegoers a comprehensive information about the event.

Supt Jones said that online communication was playing an increasing part in the successful organisation of the event.

"Information about the traffic arrangements for the weekend of the British Grand Prix is always complex and it has been a big bonus for us in recent years to get this information out to visitors, both national and international, at the touch of a button," he said.

"Silverstone is an international event which attracts many visitors from overseas to Northamptonshire for the race weekend.

"In this respect alone, the website has become a very important medium."
