Man arrested over alley shooting

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a cyclist who was shot dead in Liverpool at the weekend.

David Garrity, 32, was on a bike when he was shot in an alleyway off Stanley Road in Kirkdale early on Sunday.

A post mortem examination confirmed he died from a single gunshot wound to the left side of his upper body.

A 28-year-old man from the Kirkdale area has been taken to a police station on Merseyside and will be questioned by detectives later.
