Paedophile extradited to the UK

A convicted child sex offender has been extradited to the UK after he was tracked down in Mexico through a "most wanted" website appeal.

Andrew Eden, 50, of Littleborough, Rochdale, was jailed for four years in 2001 for abusing a seven-year-old girl.

He went missing in 2003 when he was released on a three-year licence.

Eden will now serve the remainder of his prison sentence and will appear before magistrates in Manchester on Friday to face a number of charges.

He was spotted in Mexico by a member of the public who recognised him from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre's Most Wanted website.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "He has been returned to the UK to finish his prison sentence.

"He also faces further charges for failing to notify police of a change of address, failing to notify police of his intention to travel abroad and failure to notify police of a change of personal circumstances under the Sexual Offences Act 2003."
