A 22-year-old woman who police said attacked a man with "shocking ferocity" has been convicted of murder and jailed for life at Manchester Crown Court.
Jayne Poole, of Tooley House, Eccles, had rowed with victim Gary White, 33, before attacking him at a house on Fir Street, Patricroft, on 3 July 2008.
Mr White died a few days later of a brain injury at a Merseyside hospital.
His death "was a tragic consequence of a dispute", a police spokesman said. Poole must serve a minimum of 12 years.
Vinny Chadwick , senior investigating officer, said: "Gary's death was a tragic consequence of a dispute. When he was sitting defenceless on a kerb, she viciously attacked him with shocking ferocity.
"Her shameful actions have left a young girl without a father and caused Gary's partner and family no end of pain."
