Nurse accepted fraud-funded gifts

A nurse has admitted being showered with gifts funded by her boyfriend's eBay fraud.

Louise Gregory, 27, of Victoria Street, Farnworth, Greater Manchester, admitted accepting gifts worth £5,000 from her former partner Jason Hart.

Gregory was standing trial at Bolton Crown Court for conspiracy to commit fraud when she pleaded guilty to acquiring criminal property.

She is due to be sentenced at the same court on 30 January.

During the trial, Gregory confessed to accepting a car, a holiday and cash from Hart, who admitted conspiracy to defraud at an earlier hearing.

Death lie

The court heard that at least 28 eBay buyers in Britain and across the world paid Hart for £23,500 worth of goods they never received.

He then used funds from the "sale" of Xbox games consoles, mobile phones, watches and other items to buy the presents for his then girlfriend.

Hart, 33, of Moorside Avenue, Farnworth, will be sentenced for fraud and perjury offences on 2 March.

On Wednesday, the court heard that in a bid to win sympathy with magistrates Hart falsely told a fines court in June 2006 that his mother had died.

Judge Stephen Everett told him both charges were "serious matters" and said custody was "at the top of the menu".
