Escaped prisoner hands himself in

Stephen Edwards

A prisoner who escaped during an escorted visit to Manchester city centre has handed himself in.

Stephen Edwards, an inmate at HMP Risley, Cheshire, was with guards when he went missing more than two weeks ago, sparking searches across the UK.

Greater Manchester Police said the 44-year-old handed himself in at a police station in Cardiff on Friday.

Edwards, who was serving a sentence for wounding with intent, has been taken back to HMP Risley.
