Body in city river is identified

The body of a man recovered from the River Irwell in Manchester city centre has been identified.

Police were called to Bridge Street West on Sunday after reports that a man was seen struggling in the river.

An underwater search team recovered the body of 52-year-old David Ramsden, aka David Duran, of Eldermount Road in Blackley at about 2250 BST.

His death is not believed to be suspicious and the case has being passed to the coroner, police said.
