Woman, 89, killed in hit-and-run

An 89-year-old woman has been killed in a hit-and-run in Greater Manchester.

The victim was struck by a car in Turves Road in Heald Green, Stockport, on Wednesday morning. She was taken to hospital where she later died.

Police said the driver of the vehicle involved did not stop at the scene or report the crash.

The car has been described as blue and was a similar size to a Nissan Micra or Peugeot. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
