Murder probe as woman found dead

Detectives have started a murder investigation after a 21-year-old woman was found dead at a flat in Greater Manchester.

Officers were called to reports of the injured woman at Hartford Gardens, Timperley, on Monday night.

Police said she was taken by ambulance to Wythenshawe Hospital but doctors' attempts to revive her failed.

A 24-year-old man found at the flat was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives.

He was initially taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to his wrists but later released into police custody.
