City ring road closed for repairs

Part of Manchester's inner ring road is to be closed for the entire weekend for essential repairs.

Engineers are to fix damaged sections of the Mancunian Way and its central reservation barriers.

The two-mile motorway runs along the south of the city centre between Egerton Street and Fairfield Street.

Signs are in place to warn motorists and diversions will be in place on Fairfield Street, Whitworth Street West, Deansgate and Liverpool Road.

The road will be closed from 1900 BST on Friday and is scheduled to reopen at 0600 BST on Monday.

Road bosses say roads on southern approaches to the city centre will be busier than usual and are urging people to allow additional time for journeys.
