Road reopens after water repairs

One of Manchester's major roads is to reopen to traffic this weekend as work to upgrade Victorian water mains and repair gas pipes is completed.

Deansgate was closed at its junction with Quay Street and Peter Street on 1 August to allow engineers to carry out the work.

Manchester City Council said United Utilities and Northern Gas Alliance had completed the work on time.

Peter Street is due to open to traffic on Friday evening.
