Two men died when the stolen car they were travelling in overturned and landed in the front garden of a house.
The car hit two other vehicles and a caravan before stopping in the garden at Alderdale Road in Cheadle Hulme.
Gareth McMahon, 20, of Brookfield Road, Cheadle, and Richard Lloyd, 20, of Granville Road, Adswood, both died at the scene.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the Vauxhall Astra was reported stolen on Thursday night.
The investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash will continue but at this stage police say they do not believe any other vehicles were involved.
The family of Mr McMahon said he was a "much loved son, brother, grandson and nephew".
"This is a tragic accident and we are deeply sorry for the loss of two wonderful boys," they said.
Mr Lloyd's family said he "would do anything for family and friends," adding that he would be "missed by all".
Police were called out in the early hours of Friday after reports that a car had overturned.
No-one else was injured.
