'Evidence' found by murder police

Halton McCollin

Police investigating the murder of a man who was shot in the head six months ago believe they may have uncovered new evidence after raids on 10 properties.

Halton McCollin, 20, was shot in the China Garden takeaway in Stretford, Greater Manchester, on 19 January and died three days later.

Police raided 10 addresses on Monday and Wednesday and seized laptops, mobiles phones and body armour.

Officers said they struck where they thought "crucial evidence" was stored.

The properties targeted were in Moss Side, Fallowfield, Old Trafford and Cheetham Hill.

A CS spray canister and a quantity of cash and cannabis were seized.

'Vital clues'

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and another has been arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Det Supt Sam Haworth said: "It is nearly six months now since Halton was gunned down in cold blood as he waited for a takeaway.

"This week we've struck addresses where we felt crucial evidence could have been stored, sometimes unknown to the inhabitants.

"Although we haven't found any guns in the raids I do not consider this action to have been unsuccessful.

"The items seized could all provide vital clues to lead us to Halton's killers."

A £20,000 reward is in place for anyone who helps to convict Mr McCollin's murderers.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
