Assault victim found dead in home

Detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found at a house in Wigan.

Although initial post-mortem tests have suggested the 47-year-old may have died of natural causes, officers say she was previously the victim of an assault.

More tests are being carried out on the body and detectives are continuing to treat her death as suscpicious.

The woman was found at the property on Anderton Way, New Springs, on Sunday afternoon.

Officers are at the scene and inquiries to establish the circumstances of her death are ongoing, a spokesman said.

An investigation into the assault is also ongoing and police want to heard from anyone who saw her in the days before her death.
