House fire treated as suspicious

A fire at a house in Greater Manchester from which six people were rescued is being treated as suspicious.

A man called the fire service in the early hours, saying his house in Rochdale was on fire and he and his family were trapped upstairs.

Crews went to the house in Arundel Street and led one man, one woman and two boys to safety. Two women were rescued from an upstairs window.

All six were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

They have since been discharged.

The fire, which was in the kitchen, was put out by firefighters.

A joint investigation has been launched by police and the fire service.
