Man arrested over bicycle crash

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a cyclist was trapped under the wheels of a car.

Police were called to Middlesex Road in Brinnington, Greater Manchester, just after 1030 BST following reports a car had been in collision with a cyclist.

Officers discovered a 46-year-old man trapped under a Vauxhall Astra. He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 59-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

Part of Middlesex Road at its junction with Westmorland Drive has been closed while forensic examinations are carried out.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
