A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident at a sauna in Manchester city centre.

Police received reports that a man had been attacked at the Basement Complex on Tariff Street on Tuesday morning at about 0230 GMT.

An investigation was launched and a man, from the Miles Platting area, was arrested and is in police custody.

Det Sgt Trevor Eaton said the staff at the Basement Complex had been helpful during their inquiries.

A spokesman for the Basement Complex said: "Officers from Greater Manchester Police discharged their duties with total professionalism and respect for the anonymity of our clients."
