Man charged over Christmas murder

Darren Catherall A man has been charged with murdering a father of six who died after being stabbed on Christmas Day.

Darren Catherall, 40, was found lying unconscious on Thorburn Road in Wigan, Greater Manchester.

He had been stabbed and was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary, where he died later from blood loss.

Police have charged James Halliday, 29, of Higher Ince, Wigan, with murder. He is due to appear before Bolton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
