Man in court over HIV 'assault'

A man charged with assault after a woman became infected with the HIV virus has appeared in court.

Edmore Tabaiwa, 39, of Audley Road, Levenshulme, appeared at Manchester Magistrates charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The victim, who has not been named, is aged in her 30s.

His application for bail was refused and he was remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Crown Court on 10 October.
